I’ve been nursing a back injury these past couple weeks, rotating cold packs and questionable doses of Advil. I’m not sure what sparked the issue. Perhaps it’s payback from the time I singlehandedly lifted a (gorgeous) vintage loveseat from out a 6 foot tall dumpster because, well, it was gorgeous and vintage.
And you know it’s real bad when you decide it’s a good idea to go treasure hunting at the Rose Bowl Flea Market at five o’clock in the morning, while traveling with a cold pack the size of a euro sham pressed between your back and the car seat. Good times indeed.
Speaking of flea markets, I was rummaging through some of my photo folders, in between cold pack shifts, and I thought you might enjoy seeing some photos of our space at the last Topanga Vintage Market, when we sold there a few weeks ago.
We brought spray bottles filled with ice cubes & water and misted our necks, arms and legs which were cooled by the occasional breeze. I also brought a cooler filled only with ice, and dunked my toes in several times. One concerned customer thought I’d injured myself. I imagine it must have looked a bit funny, but a girl’s gotta do what she must to stay cool.
Even my favorite heat and humidity gel was no match for the scorching temps that day. My natural curls were spiraling out of control by the minute…
Here’s a look at the chaos process we go through in putting our booth together…
5:00am early arrival. We unload all contents out of our van and pile into our space. Then quickly move the van out of the space and assembly begins.
All I can say is it’s a good thing I’m a whiz at puzzle solving.
And two hours later, our space magically looked a little something like this…

In other news, I’ve been getting so many questions about August’s Cottage of the Month, it’s crazy! The one that comes up most often is “Does Angie have a blog or a website?” The answer is no, but you can find her on Facebook.
Just for fun, I thought I’d post a few of my favorite photos of Angie’s beautiful home here on my blog, although you can see the entire feature on my website.

Aside from my usual cold pack and Advil combo, I’m planning on baking this. Watching this. Listening to this on repeat. And having Sunday brunch here. That’s what the weekend is for, right?
I hope you have a good one!

DeleteYour booth looks great!
ReplyDeleteNo one understands how much work (physical as well) it takes to get a booth ready until they have done one.
It's gratifying when it comes together and customers are complimentary, but it is hard, hard work.
Congratulations on your space!!!!
Simone
Simone, you are so RIGHT! It is such crazy hard work. If I wasn't so passionate about what I do, there's no way I'd be putting myself out there. But I love it so : )
