ReplyDeleteEvery time I smell homemade bread it takes me back to my childhood... my mom frequently made fresh bread, which is probably why I love to bake bread so much myself.

ReplyDeleteI would have to say that plastic smell of baby dolls reminds me of my childhood. I loved playing with dolls and whenever I got a new one, it had a distinct smell that I loved! Unfortunately, I only had boys so no new baby dolls are present now. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteAnxiously awaiting the Cottage of the Month but the site does not appear..help!
ReplyDeleteKelly, that plastic baby doll smell is one of mine too. I would enter my folks living room and sniff the air to see if a new baby doll was under the tree. lol, I had boys too and I wonder if baby dolls still smell that way?
ReplyDeleteSo wish I lived near to visit your shows. Love your blog and the monthly cottages...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite childhood smell is Pot Roast--sounds silly maybe--but my mother was the best cook ever and she made unbelievable, comforting pot roast...

ReplyDeleteThe smell of sawdust - strange huh? But I spent a lot of time growing up at my grandparents house and my grandpa had the most amazing basement ever that smelled of sawdust. Now my woodworking husband has a workshop that smells the same. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI have wanted one of those candles since she introduced them!
ReplyDeleteThe smell of a new box of crayons brings back childhood memories. I loved coloring.
ReplyDeleteWish I could make it to California to visit your booth... great looking items and so organized.

ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer! Always look forward to your 1st of the Month Cottage Home feature! Such a great home this month and a wonderful giveaway. I've already popped over to visit Kristy! Don't laugh, but my favorite childhood scent would have to be flour, water, and sugar all mixed together ~ such a clean yummy unmistakable smell ~ Mother would give me small containers of the flour and sugar and I'd cart them out to my playhouse in the backyard and mix with water and "bake" all day long. Don't know why I never had ants.....! :0)
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'm gearing up for my 3rd annual WEDDING BLOG PARTY next Friday (June 8th) and would so love it if you could join us. Please stop by and read all about it!

ReplyDeleteYou can't ever have enough candles!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for giving me a chance to win this awesome candle. Soy Candles....the best. :)
ReplyDeleteDon't know if you will read this before the Flea Market, but I hope so. Do you still have the C or M letters that I see in your photo? And, how big are they? We are riding our bikes to the Flea Market so we will be good and not spend too much money, but I would love to get the C and hope it will fit in my bike basket. Also, do you know where your space will be?
ReplyDeleteCount me in.. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteLeft Comment on Starfish Cottage Blog.. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteStrawberries reminds me of the shampoo my mom used on us when we were kids....
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway Jennifer. I'd have to say my childhood memory is the smell of Jergen's lotion. I remember learning how to make that smell in organic chemistry class in college which was cool.
ReplyDeleteI did it all backwards! I went to the Cottage of the Month First!
ReplyDeleteChildhood scent I remember is vanilla....my parents always had vanilla potpourri in a pan with some water on the stovetop....maybe that's why vanilla is a commonplace in my home!
ReplyDeleteLeft a comment for Starfish Cottage too!! Grazie to both of you!
ReplyDeleteI had so much fun at the Topanga Vintage Market last Sunday. Jennifer, your space looked more amazing the photographs! It was cute seeing Adam suggesting places for items to be displayed. I was so pleased with the outcome of the market as a substitute vendor that I would consider selling there each month. How fun would it be to be next to one another selling our wares and giggling together? Anyway....does mud have a scent? I can only remember making mud pies as a child! Yup, the earthy scent of mud!
ReplyDelete...than the photographs. Oops.
DeleteThe smells that remind me of childhood: lilacs, tomato plants and the fake strawberry scent that was on Strawberry Shortcake (When you pushed her belly.... weird.)
ReplyDeletePlease enter me in your contest. :)
ReplyDeleteI left a comment on the other site! Please enter me again.

The scent that most reminds me of my

My mom and dad had tons of flowers, trees.

honeysuckle flowers and use it for perfume
as a child!
Merci, Cindi

ReplyDeleteI love the scents of food. Apple pie, vanilla, peaches, cinnamon. Also, lavender, mint, roses and lilacs...those scents remind me the most of childhood.
ReplyDeleteWish I could stop by...in person!!
ReplyDeleteI remember and love the smell of wet dirt when my mom would water her garden!! I would wake up to that every morning when my bedroom window was open!
ReplyDeleteLily of the valley is the scent that reminds me of my childhood. My grandmother wore Muguets des Bois (I think that is the spelling) and I loved it. Also loved when the lily of the valley bloomed in her urban yard in the spring.
ReplyDeleteLove the fleamarket views, wish I could stop in and see you sometime, but I live up in Oregon.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite scent from my childhood is the smell of fresh bread baking. My mother always made homemade bread once a week for the entire week. That day when we would come home from school we would each get a slice of warm homemade bread, yum.
ReplyDeletePathetic, but I can't think of a single scent that reminds me of childhood!! How sad ~
ReplyDeleteMy favorite scent is wet grass and dirt ... just freshly watered .. at dusk.
ReplyDeleteFresh cut grass! Sorry I missed seeing you at Topanga Vintage Market. See you in June!
ReplyDeleteOh I'd love to win one of her awesome candles. I just went over to her blog and commented there as well. And for me, the smell of childhood would be the smell of a new box of crayons.

ReplyDeleteMy mother used products with an almond scent and that reminds me of her!
ReplyDeleteThe scent that reminds me of my childhood is bacon....it reminds me of Saturday morning breakfasts with my family.
ReplyDeleteI spotted about 15 things I wanted in your booth! We never have any cool markets around here...sigh. One scent that reminds me of my childhood is Pledge, believe it or not! My mom always cleaned the house with it and everytime I smell it, it's like I am a kid again watching her mop the floor!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great pick for the June Cottage, too! It just goes to show even when you are renting, you can make a home beautiful! Lots of inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWish I could have been there. It looks like a treasure hunter's dream! Beautiful cottage pictures.
ReplyDeleteI love candles. Beautiful cottage for this month.
ReplyDeleteThe scent that reminds me of my childhood is rose essence. One of my grandmother's had a beautiful rose garden and I always think of her and our happy memories when I smell rose essence.
ReplyDeleteyour show looks fabulous. I wish I was in the area to come shop!!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of Kristy's new line- so sophisticated and elegant looking. Her home is gorgeous too.
Hmmmm..... the scent that reminds me most of my childhood?? LOL, not a pleasant one! We lived near a mushroom processing plant when I was little, and they would bring in lots of manure to help grow the mushrooms. On a hot summer day that's all I could smell when I was outside playing!! After lots of complaints, they added mint to "help" it smell better. Manure and mint. On a hot day. MMMMM. ;) To this day I can't eat a mushroom.
ReplyDeleteThere ya go! ha ha!
Vanilla reminds me of my Mom baking cookies. Oh how I miss that.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm drooling over all of your flea market goods! Whenever I smell coconut suntan oil/lotion it reminds me of going to the lake swimming every day throughout my childhood summers :)
ReplyDeleteSusan
Well, I can tell we're not neighbors, but I love all your treasures. Maybe I'll have to venture north for your next show!
