If you’re a regular reader of my blog, than you’ll probably remember the huge cloche I shared with you last month. Incase if you’re a new visitor, welcome! You can read the cloche backstory here.
I decided to create a little holiday vignette inside of my cloche because this thing is so darn huge, the creative possibilities are endless. Remember the old snow globes? My grandmother used to have one that I loved to shake and watch the snow ever so slowly drift down. That was the vision I had that inspired this vignette. A little woodland forest, tucked away in the snow…
With the dome removed you can see much more detail. I started with an old round thick mirror with a black frame as my base and a large silver double handled trophy cup…
I filled the silver trophy cup with fresh tree cuttings, sprinkled some faux snow on top, and added in a few snow tipped pinecones. Here’s a little tip: I went to the tree cutting area at Home Depot and asked if they had any cuttings they were going to be throwing out. The nice gentleman took a walk with me through the rows of trees and cut full branches that had bends or “imperfections” (which to me were perfect). I walked out of there with a huge armful of fresh tree cuttings, free of charge…
The little nest I’ve had for some time, and the white dove came from a local store. I also sprinkled some faux snow on the nest for that snow globe effect I mentioned earlier…
I wish I could remember where I bought these snowflake ornaments, because I would go back and buy more! I love them so…
The tiny little beads add so much sparkle…
And there you have it, my grown-up version snow globe holiday cloche vignette!
I’m linking this post to the Holiday Home Christmas Vignette Linky Party over at Rhoda’s. (I’m so bummed I missed Layla’s party, but we’re in the middle of painting our fireplace and setting up a gas log set, which isn’t going so well at the moment, so my mantel is a mess of tools, pipes and paint, not pretty!
PS: I wanted to thank all of you for your very encouraging comments on our recent Master Bedroom reveal. I’m so glad you liked it. We’re really happy with it too!

I LOVE your cloche vignette, Jennifer! I like how you combined natural outdoor elements with a little bit of sparkle. I'm decorating the same way this year, but haven't posted too much about it on my blog yet. Again, everything is just beautiful... love it!

It's gorgeous! Those snow flake ornaments you used and love look just like the ones I purchased from Pottery Barn about 3 or 4 years ago... maybe you picked them up there?

Hi Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteI saw almost same beaded snowflake ornament at West Elm...it was in their catalog but when you go on-line put in the search box: "Snowflake Beaded Ornament" and a picture will come up...says it's no longer available; but I found if you call the store you might find some in stock? Good luck, they are beautiful!
Happy Holidays!
